Therapy can give you a safe place to explore, an opportunity to work through things in ways you might not do on your own, and can support you with getting back on track.

The benefits of therapy vary greatly, here’s a few examples:

  • Improved quality of life
  • A different perspective
  • Acceptance of your process vs. fighting it
  • Forgiveness, relief, healing
  • Regulate your nervous system
  • Improvement in ability to concentrate, sleep, sexual health, appetite
  • Learn how to practice mindfulness and presence
  • Practice self-compassion/patience vs. shame/guilt
  • Observe & change certain behavior patterns
  • Improve quality of relationships
  • Improvement in your overall mental/physical health
  • Learn how to cultivate joy vs. consumption of joy
  • (You can fill in the blank and make therapy work for you however you need/desire)

Have you ever paused and asked yourself: Do I have to be so hard on myself? Imagine for a moment how you would feel if you gave yourself permission to be more forgiving with yourself no matter what you are going through. Imagine you took time to work through whatever burden you carry instead of denying, shutting down, “pushing through.” Can you see yourself going through with this? Which aspects would change for you? What would it feel like to put flourishing before striving? This is some of the “work” we can engage in through therapy.

Therapy
A mentor once said that “therapy can be a soft landing during a hard time.”
