Shannon, Licensed Therapist

Welcome, Shannon!

Greetings! I have been working in the mental health field in various capacities since 2010, beginning my career in in-patient and later transitioning into intensive in-home services. I graduated in 2022 with a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands and have been working in private practice since. I am conditionally licensed in Maine as well as Texas, and Virginia, and am under the supervision of Jessica Browne LCSW-S.

Anais Nin stated, “We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are”. So much of how we view ourselves and the world is influenced by beliefs and behaviors developed through repeated patterns, experiences, and relationships. My goal is to walk alongside you as a guide, using various approaches to begin unlearning those beliefs and behaviors that keep us stuck while healing those parts of us that are no longer serving us.

Although therapy is a serious endeavor, my approach is casual and inviting; my goal is that you feel relaxed and at ease while we use evidence-based strategies, humor, and strengths to help reach your treatment goals. I also enjoy using video games/anime, and relevant media to facilitate growth and am proud to be completing my certification in Geek Therapy.

I have spent my years in Mental Health focusing on Trauma, OCD and personality disorders. I also have experience working with a wide range of issues as well as populations. I am a proud to identify as Jewish American, am an ally of the LGBTQIA+ and Veteran community, and am passionate about advocating for my clients as well as the Mental Health field at large.

Personally, I’m a transplant to Maine by way of Virginia, am a former military spouse, and have a plethora of what I like to call 5-minute hobbies. I enjoy art, though I create it poorly, am an avid knitter and reader and enjoy playing video games. I believe that initiating change is an act of hope, and I am deeply honored and humbled to walk that journey at your side.
